Powershell long term life?

Post by VuduMast3r » Fri Nov 15, 2019 7:59 am

The question I have pertains to the whole MS subsystem for linux and Microsoft moving more and more towards Linux in terms of implementing some of the missing features. I'm still new to learning Powershell, so I just wanted to make sure my newfound knowledge isn't going to be extinct in short order and that I'm not wasting my time at this point.

Windows isn't going anywhere and I can't fathom PowerShell going anywhere either. It's a powerhouse in the Microsoft world whether it's going to be used on-prem or in their Azure environment, pretty much everything has a PowerShell "way". Them adding Linux features and commands I think is just their way of gaining more popularity and market. They've also branched out heavily into the open source field, which is somewhat strange for Microsoft (see Github acquisition, VSCode release, Linux support in general, etc)
